The difference between heavy magnesium oxide and light magnesium oxide

Before understanding the difference between heavy magnesia and light magnesia, we need to understand a term first, that is “apparent volume”. Apparent volume is the volume of a substance per unit weight, in ml/g.

The heavy magnesia and light magnesia are based on 4ml/g as the dividing line, the above 4ml/g is light magnesia, and the following is heavy magnesia. This also shows that the volume of light magnesium oxide is relatively fluffy, while the volume of heavy magnesium oxide is relatively compact, which will also be different in the field of application.

The production process of heavy magnesia generally uses magnesite and brucite ore to be calcined directly. The production process is relatively simple, so the sales price is generally cheaper. The light magnesium oxide is made of magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate, which are turned into water-soluble products, and then turned into water-insoluble products by chemical methods, and then calcined into magnesium oxide.

Due to the complicated production process, this also affects the production cost. The price will be greatly improved, and the market price will be slightly higher than that of heavy magnesia.
